The Best of the West Film Fest is a week-long festival dedicated to celebrating Western culture and the significance of Western movies on American culture. The festival kicks off right before summer begins and is located in El Paso, Texas, at one of the most historic landmarks of the city, the Plaza Theatre built in 1930.
This poster is designed specifically for one of the classic Western movies, High Noon (1952). The design objective of the poster was to combine photoshop and physical materials, as seen in the wooden lettering. An image of a rough wooden texture was taken and manipulated into letters. Using photoshop, additional effects were added such as the nails and the splintering wood as the bullet shot through the letters. A traditional Western color scheme was selected when designing this poster. The intentional placement of the sun represents the movie title, High Noon.
A self-mailer was also designed for the Best of the West Film Festival to effectively promote the films being screened and the guest bands performing. The design of the mailer was inspired by vintage Western train tickets, characterized by a wide variety of fonts unified by a single color. Stamps were included to enhance the train ticket aesthetic while also conveying important information.
A nine-grid collection of social media posts was designed to effectively advertise the Best of the West Film Festival. The posts feature a unified color scheme, and the fonts match those of the mailer to create consistency throughout the advertising campaign.
This is the mockup of how the posts would look on Instagram.

Below are thumbnails, sketches, and inital drafts taken from my sketchbook in order to show the creative process of designing the poster.
