Magazine reading "Too Much On Your Plate?" surrounded by an assortment of objects such as pencils, a clock, and an oboe.
This work features a previous project as flat art, in this piece as a magazine. The magazine article is about overscheduling and its correlation to burnout, and elements of life such as cars, schoolwork, and houses are shown spilling off of the overloaded plate in a surreal style. The photography of the flat art features intentional placement of darker objects such as the oboe and the car keys on the side of the magazine with the dark background, and the lighter objects on the side with the lighter background in order to achieve a composition that is visually appealing.
Magazine spread reading "Too Much On Your Plate?" featuring an image of a serving tray filled with objects on a dark background.
Here is a full scale image of the magazine article. The cover collage was created in Photoshop, and the type was set in InDesign.
Below is a couple of pages of sketchbook work, featuring a mind-map and thumbnails.
