Come Blow Your Horn is a 1961 play by Neil Simon showing the life of a man who realizes the life he is living is not as great as he once thought it to be. The "as good as gold" headline reinforces the theme of the play by showing the golden letters spelling "GOLD" woven into the French horn as tarnished and not as shiny and good as the phrase "as good as gold" actually means. It represents the idea of something being gilded, which has a double meaning of both "covered thinly with gold leaf or gold paint" and not turning out to be as good as one previously thought it to be.
The font chosen for the "as good as" headline is a nod to music notes, as the type is set on a music staff. The small music notes in the background represent the stars, and the end of the staff of music curls into a glowing moon, meshing together the music motif and the New York City night background in reference to the play's title "Come Blow Your Horn".
